hello

My OSBDM (JB16) will not work on any computer that has been on the network of the school.

even with

  - local loggin with administrator rigths

  - network cable unplugged

  - antivirus removed

  - domain network services stopped

this is very strange, usually, as soon as you have a local loggin with administrator rigths, you can run anything on the computers

I tried about 10 computers (windows XP SP2 or SP3), thoose that have been on the network domain will only get the ID of the chip from the BDM nothing more.

since I have five OSBDM, any help would be very much appreciated

bye jean

Additional details on the failure would be useful.  Do any of the boards enumerate on the USB bus when connected?  Is the JB16 properly programmed?  What is the target MCU?

The OSBDM is a USB device.  The host PC connected to the school network should not affect functionality of the OSBDM.  You can determine if the OSBDM enumerates from the Device Manager ( Contol Panel | System | Hardware tab).  If the OSBDM does not enumerate, nothing else will work.

hy

since I can work for hours at home with the OSBDM, I guess the JB16 is correctly programmed (firmware distribution7) and I can program it either with USB or Mon08 connector.

The device appears in the device manager (LibUSB-Win32 device)

I tested with GT8 boards we use to teach, and a small JS16 board. I tested with CodeWarrior 5.1 and 6.2.

In any case, if the computer was before on the network domain, the OSBDM will be unable to download or run the software to program the chip.

If I program the chip with a demoboard and then switch to OSBDM a limited BDM activity (stepping) is sometime possible

my network manager is wondering if a "dirty application" that program too directly the USB port could be responsible.

In my mind it should be in relation with the restrictions you get on the machine the first time you connect it in the network domain.

Or a timing problem ?

I'm now buying an USBDM ( JM60) and will test it too

bye jean

Hi

I am very sorry, I gave wrong informations.

It is not a network problem.

The OSBDM is working fine on very old (pentium 1.3GHz) and new machines.

I think the problem is on the first 64bits machine, and the first dual core 64 bits machines we got . it is about 7 of my computers that cannot deal with OSBDM.

Is that a hardware or BIOS problem  ?

Dear Jean,

See the last post in  the forum below for a comment that may relate to your problem.

You could also "upgrade" your old OSBDMs to USBDM-JB16 ?

bye

well I give up OSBDM for USBDM

Since I can buy a USBDM JM60 for only  30 euro, and that one is working perfectly.

Even for a school, it is cheap.

Moreover,  looks like that once USBDM is installed on the computer, you cannot switch back to OSBDM.

thanks for the work done magic pgo !

bye jean
