PN532 Plug n Play to PC (Win or Linux)

I would like to set up PN532 for a model railroad project.  For id of rolling stock by location.

Need advice the most simplest method of interfacing PN532 (and multiple instances of PN532) to PC and MS  Excel on PC.  Using the simplest of I2C, SPI, or UART.  Direct to PC not  via micro.What software to set up.

Send me in the right direction to something similar set up already.
