OM27462CDK Clarification

I have received OM27462CDK development board for PN7426 NFC application development. Can you help me to understand the highlighed portion in the back side of the development board. And please let me know the `best application example to start with detecting NFC card using the development board.

The highlighted portion in the back side of the development board is a contact slot interface (SMART CARD 5145300-2) that allows to enable communication with ISO7816 and EMVCo contact smart cards.

In order to start exploring this and other features of the PN7462, I would recommend checking out the “phExMain” example which is the root of many sub examples included in the "PN7462AU FW and SW Examples" package. This example allows to demonstrate contactless operation supporting TypeA, TypeB, Felica, ISO15693, ISO18000p3m3 protocols, as well as contact operation supporting ISO7816.

For further details on the different features available of the example and its setup procedure, please refer to section 9.2 of the PN7462 family Quick Start Guide.

Thank you very much for your prompt response. I am able to run phExMain example code . I have understood that the PN7462 board has a SAM [Secure Access Module]. Is there any document available to understand more about SAM and how to integrate the SAM feature and example application code for the same?

I have one more query: whether the PN7462 development board is capable of detecting and exchanging data from an Android phone with NFC enabled instead of an NFC card. If so, any sample application is available to start with. My final plan is to use a mobile phone instead of NFC cards.

The PN7462 Evaluation Board offers the possibility of integrating an external SAM via the contact interface in order to perform authentication using a key stored in this module. The "PN7462AU_ex_phExDoorAccessEC" example demonstrates this feature; you can find an overview of this application in section 9.15 of the PN7462 family Quick Start Guide and a detailed description on how to use the example in PN7462AU Door Access User Manual.

For communicating with an NFC mobile device, P2P (peer to peer) functionality is integrated, supporting passive A 106 mode for performing data exchange. This feature is explored as well in the "PN7462AU_ex_phExMain" example when in "P2P mode", as well as in the "PN7462AU_ex_phExDoorAccess" and "PN7462AU_ex_phExNFCCcid" examples. You may find a detailed description on to use this last example in PN7462AU PC CCID Reader User Manual.
