Inquiry: NFC Reader with Apple ECP / Touch Pass Support

Hi, 

We are developing an access control system and are looking for an NFC reader solution that fully supports or uses Apple ECP (Enhanced Contactless Polling).

Our key requirements are:

1. Native Auto-Selection (ECP):
   The reader must transmit ECP frames so that the iPhone automatically presents the correct Apple Wallet pass (instead of the default payment card).
   
   
2. Express Mode Compatibility:
   Support for Apple Express Mode, including Power Reserve (no Face ID / Touch ID, no screen wake).

Our system details:

• Host platform: Rockchip RK3588
• OS: Android 12 (AOSP)
• Application: Access control / door reader

We would like to confirm the following:

1. Recommended Hardware
• Which of your NFC reader models support Apple ECP (ECP 2.0 or higher)?
• Are these readers Apple VAS / Apple Access certified?
• Are the products available as modules or IC-only solutions?
  
  
2. Integration & Software Support
• Do you provide Android (AOSP) HAL / SDK support compatible with Android 12?
• Is ECP frame transmission configurable via host commands (NCI or proprietary API)?
  
  
3. Apple Enablement Requirements
• What Apple approvals (MFi / Apple Access / VAS) are required to enable ECP?
• Can you provide documentation or a test unit for ECP and Express Mode validation?

Perhaps you could consider PN7160/PN7161. This device is an NFC Controller with Integrated Firmware, supports all NFC Forum modes, includes drivers for Android, Linux and Windows, supports RTOS and no OS applications, and includes an NCI interface.

Please notice that PN7161 version adds support for Apple ECP. However, for further support on this, please engage with you NXP Sales representative or your local Distributor from the Distributor Network | NXP Semiconductors.
