I'm developing an NFC reader system for public transportation (MIFARE Classic and MIFARE DESFire support is needed), so the reader must be secured with SAM. Currently I want to configure the SAM in standard mode. My questions might be so basic because I'm new to this field.
1. In the standard mode, I can use any reader chip and no SAM support for that chip is needed, right?
2. What is the typical task of the SAM in a public transportation payment system? I mean what is exactly the authentication procedure handled by the SAM? Does it just tell the controller the key to speak to the MIFARE card or it also encrypts all the communication between the controller and the reader chip?
