You SW will compare the CRC made under your PIT configuration (lets say offline) with the actual one every one FTTI.
FTTI is Fault Tolerant Time Interval

You should monitor any register which is relevant for your counter functionality.
For example if you are using PIT0 then monitor its registers content.
