Hi, I would recommend to see example 1 from the document below

AN5200 - Error Correcting Codes Implemented on MPC55xx and MPC56xx 

Example is written for MPC5634M where it works the same way as MPC5554. But be aware MPC5554 contain erratum e1143 that is mentioned in the document.
