SR150 UWBIoT TWR ranging – phRangingMesr.rssi always 0. Is RSSI supported in DS-TWR or requires CCC/

[RishabhKholiya]

Hello,

I am working on the NXP SR150 UWBIoT MCUx SDK (v04.08.01) and using the demo_ranging_controller + demo_ranging_controlee applications for DS-TWR ranging.

Ranging distance and SNR print correctly, however RSSI always reports 0, regardless of range or antenna condition.

Example output (from PrintUtility.c → printRangingData()):

TWR[0].distance = 135 cm
TWR[0].rssi = 0

Code used:
pRangingData->ranging_meas.range_meas_twr[i].rssi

I cannot find anywhere in the documentation where RSSI for TWR (RANGE_DATA_NTF) must be enabled via macro or configuration.
Vendor SNR fields work, but the rssi member inside phRangingMesr_t is never populated.

My questions:

1. Is RSSI supported for SR150 in normal TWR ranging sessions (RANGE_DATA_NTF)?

2. If yes, what configuration/macro is required to enable the RSSI field?
   (any parameter like NXP_EXTENDED_NTF_CONFIG, PHY config, session type, etc.)

3. If not, is it correct that RSSI is only available in:

   • CCC_RANGE_DATA_NTF (CCC/CSA profile) – Q8.8 RSSI_RX1/RSSI_RX2

   • TEST_RX_NTF / TEST_PER_RX_NTF (RF test mode) – Q8.8 RSSI values

4. Is there a recommended method to obtain both distance + true calibrated RSSI on the same packets?

Any official confirmation or pointer to documentation would be very helpful.
Right now SNR prints fine but RSSI remains 0 in all ranging tests.

Thank you.
