Request for Hall Sensor-Based Motor Control Reference Firmware and Training Material

Dear NXP Team,

We are working with a customer developing an air-cooling system using a 24 V, 3.47 A motor.

We have successfully completed a demonstration using sensorless FOC-based motor control. The customer now wants to integrate Hall sensors for rotor position detection using the FRDM-MCXA156 EVK (control card) with the FRDM-MC-LVPMSM (power card).

Could you please suggest a suitable reference firmware or application example for implementing Hall sensor-based motor control on this hardware combination?

I reviewed the Hall-sensored BLDC example for the LPC55S36 available on GitHub.

However, I could not locate the corresponding FreeMASTER configuration file (.pmpx) for this example.

Could you please help us with the following?

• Reference firmware for Hall sensor integration on the FRDM-MCXA156 with the FRDM-MC-LVPMSM.

• The corresponding FreeMASTER project/configuration file (.pmpx), if available.

• Relevant application notes, training materials, or implementation guides for integrating Hall sensor feedback into an existing sensorless FOC project Based on FRDM-MCXA156 EVK.

Your technical guidance and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The MCUXpresso SDK includes multiple motor control example projects. You can find more information for FRDM-MCXA156 on the following page.

The pmsm_enc example for the FRDM-MCXA156 + FRDM-MC-LVPMSM combination is in the SDK v25.06. It supports sensorless and sensored FOC and includes the pmsm_float_enc.pmpx FreeMASTER project. You can refer to UG10247.pdf for more details.
