MC33771B IC Replacement and Firmware Inquiry for BMS Project

I’m a final-year electrical engineering student at Ain Shams University, working on a graduation project to design a Battery Management System (BMS) using NXP tools. Our setup includes a KL25Z as the master, an FRDM-MC33664-EVB as the transceiver, and an FRDM-MC33771B-TPL-EVB as the slave, connected to a 14-cell battery pack in series. The master reads data (voltage, current, temperature) from the slave via TPL communication, processes it, and makes decisions like opening protection switches or displaying data on an LCD.

We recently faced an issue where the MC33771B IC on our FRDM-MC33771B-TPL-EVB slave board got damaged due to a hardware fault (likely overvoltage from a previous wiring mistake). We need to replace the IC, but we have a few questions:

1) If we purchase a new MC33771B IC, will it come preloaded with firmware, or will it require manual firmware loading or configuration via the master (KL25Z)? If firmware is needed, could you guide us on the process to initialize or program the new IC?

2)If replacing the IC is not straightforward, is there a way to request a replacement FRDM-MC33771B-TPL-EVB board from NXP? Alternatively, can NXP repair our damaged slave board?

Hello @AbdullahMohamed ,

Thanks for your post.
Since this is a MCX channel, the MC33771B is beyond the scope of our support. Sorry for the inconvenience to you. You can create a new post on Other NXP Products - NXP Community. The related supporters will assist you further.
Hope it can help you.
