Hi,

Getting issue as following after hitting debug in mcuexpresso ide

Error in final launch sequence

Failed to execute MI Command: -target-download

Error message from debugger back end: Error finishing flash operation

Would like to know what could be reason for the problem and its solution.

B Regards,

Hello @ma0208 ,

Thanks for your post.

This type of log issue is usually not caused by a single factor. Common root causes are typically related to debug probe connection, target MCU state, Flash driver/memory mapping, or project and debug configuration.
To help us narrow down the problem, could you please confirm the following details?

  1. I guess you are using a custom board, could you please share your schematic?
  2. What is the model and firmware version of your debug probe?
  3. Have you tested using one of our SDK demo projects? If so, do you encounter the same issue?
  4. Which versions of MCUXpresso IDE and LinkServer are you using?
  5. Have you tried performing a mass erase before reprogramming? If yes, what was the result?

You may also try the following steps:

  • Check the Device Manager to ensure that the debug probe is correctly recognized by the system
  • Delete the .launch file, clean and rebuild the project, click debug button to re-generate debug configuration file

With the above information, we can further analyze the issue. Looking forward to your reply.

Hello @ma0208 ,

Thanks for your reply. I previously reviewed your schematic in a private support case and recommended that VDD_SYS and VDD_CORE should not be tied to 3.3 V. I see you updated the schematic by removing the 3.3 V connection. It's okay.

To ensure the design meets specifications, I suggest you can measure the relevant pins with a multimeter (and an oscilloscope if needed) to verify voltage and ripple against the datasheet electrical and timing specifications.

Furthermore, there is a design checklist posted on the MCXNx4x webpage that should also be used when designing in these devices (https://www.nxp.com/webapp/Download?colCode=MCXNSERIES-DESIGN-IN-CHECKLIST&appType=license).

If helpful, feel free to share the updated sections. I’m happy to take another quick look.
