Plugin SDK vs importing SDK from official SDK Git Repository

Hi there,

MCUXpresso SDKs have been published on https://github.com/nxp-mcuxpresso/mcux-sdk.

Starting with V11.5.0, MCUXpresso IDE supports installing these SDKs by "importing a remote SDK Git repository".

MCUXpresso IDE user manual discusses the details and differences between obtaining and installing an SDK via Plugin SDK compared to using SDK Builder. The manual, however, it is silent about the advantages importing an SDK via remote SDK Git repository.

Could anybody please explain why one should rather use the SDK Git repository?

Thanks.
Daniel

Hi,

Thank you so much for your interest in our products and for using our community.

Sorry, I don't know the advantages of importing an SDK via remote SDK Git repository. But as you mention it yourself, the official ways that NXP recommends is to do it by means of Plugin SDK and using SDK Builder. Also, it is worth mentioning that everything that NXP provides is through its official page.

Hope it helps you.

Have a nice day!

Dear @_Leo_ ,

I appreciate your response.

I did not state that "the official ways that NXP recommends is to do it by means of Plugin SDK and using SDK Builder". That are your words. Further, I don't see where the manual corroborates your statement.

I consider importing SDK from NXP's SDK Git Repository also as an "official way", as

a) the manual explains how to do this, see section 4.2.4, and

b) the NXP's SDK Git Repository bears the "verified" badge, see here:
