I deployed the same SD boot environment, however still cannot reproduce your problem.

Do you use USB Mass Storage device? 

You could try whether USB could be detected when using ubuntu main rootfs. As normal rootfs filesystem should not be the root cause.

Have your modified dts or Kernel configuration file?

If yes, please use boot_LS_arm64_lts_5.10.tgz which I specified.

Please download LSDK 21.08 bootpartition tar ball with the following command.

wget https://www.nxp.com/lgfiles/sdk/lsdk2108/boot_LS_arm64_lts_5.10.tgz

Then use Image and fsl-ls1043a-rdb-sdk.dtb from that tar all.

As normally, this problem should not be related with rootfs filesystem.

Please refer to my attached console log, there is no problem to use USB device in the Tiny Buildroot rootfs.
