SATA Throughput

We are using SDK V1.8 with LS1021A.  We are using the dd application to measure SATA and USB 3.0 throughput.  We are measuring 95 MB/s on USB 3.0 but only ~45MB/s on SATA.  We know that the SATA drives that we are testing with are capable of much higher throughput ( > 150 MB/s).  Does anyone know the cause of this very slow throughput?
