LPCXpresso LPC1343
OSX 10.7.3, Virtualbox, WindowsXP sp3

First when windows boots, the device is listed as "USB device with DFU Capabilities."

Debugging fails with:
"Connect to emulator or board: NXP LPC1300"
"No emulator/board available."
"This could be because it is unpowered, disconnected or already in use."

After failed debugging the device is listed as "LPC-Link Debug Probe v1.1"

The device was confirmed to work on a pure Windows machine.

We have been trying to figure this out for a while and are running out of ideas.
Has anyone reported LPC1343 to work with osx? Virtualbox?

Please share your advise.

I had to install XPRESSO on brand new WIN XP installation that DID NOT HAVE ANY MS VISUAL C app installed . And it caused the same error under XPRESSO then.
Installing the MS VC++ 2008 SP1 redistrib. package fixed the error instantly.

I have overcome this obstacle: 'No emulator/board Available'

Solution: Download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1
from for example:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=11895

Thanks for the help.

I found two errors in the windows event viewer,

Generate Activation Context failed for C:\nxp\LPCXpresso_4.2.2_275\lpcxpresso\bin\crt_hid_probe.dll. Reference error message: The operation completed successfully.

Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.CRT could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

Is this the root of the problem or should I ignore this?

Thank you, I tried checking HID option in emulator preferences.

The device renumerated on OSX as 0x0007/0x1fc9 LPC-Link Probe v1.0

In windows it was an HID device with Microsoft drivers from 2001.

The same thing happened when debugging: 'No emulator/board Available'

I tried this in cmd line (I don't know if it is relevant but I thought I would show it anyway):
C:\nxp\LPCXpresso_4.2.2_275\lpcxpresso\bin>crt_emu_lpc11_13_nxp.exe -g -2 -pLPC1343 -wire=hid -info-target
Pc: (  0) Reading remote configuration
Ni: LPCXpresso Debug Driver v4.0 (Mar 24 2012 17:40:11)
Et: Failed emulator initialization: E(xx). HID driver load/install error: crt_hid_probe.dll

is it worth trying:

in the ide  locate the tab ...  Window\Preterences\LPCXpresso\DebugEmulator

and then 'check' the Initialise LPC-Link as HID option?

Thanks, I read that. ("LPC-Link may not be found when IDE run under Virtual Machine" )

I assumed that since the device is renumerating as "LPC-Link Debug Probe v1.1" then the statement:

"Many Virtual Machines fail to recognise the reconfiguration and so the IDE cannot find the newly booted LPC-Link."

was not applicable in our case.

But either way, I tried removing the device from VM port settings. It does not go away from windows device manager, so this might not mean anything really.

I tried to uninstall the device in Windows Device Manager and "Scan for hardware changes" -> clicking "No"->"Yes"->whatever. to have the driver automatically reloaded.

After this I still have the problem while trying to debug.

Same thing after restarting the IDE with device as LPC-Link and same thing after rebooting VM with device persisting as LPC-link.

Might be worth looking at the FAQ "LPC-Link may not be found when IDE run under Virtual Machine"

HTH!
