I have used the lpc1343 and 1114 and now need to use the newer lpc1768 version. I tried to follow the setup instructions but get this attached error report.

C:\Users\David\AppData\Local\Temp\ccNY27Vt.s:1334: Error: selected processor does not support `it lt'
C:\Users\David\AppData\Local\Temp\ccNY27Vt.s:1335: Error: Thumb does not support conditional execution
C:\Users\David\AppData\Local\Temp\ccNY27Vt.s:1362: Error: lo register required -- `str fp,[sp,#-4]!'

more of the same......

could someone please tell me what is causing this. Thanks in advance

mayotte1,

The latest bundle of example projects ( http://ics.nxp.com/support/lpcxpresso/zip/examples.lpc17xx.zip ) should include a UART project. Have you tried that yet?

Howdy:

I want to do some simple things with my lpcxpresso 1768 board like exercise the uarts, etc. I noticed these examples are present in the examples for the lpc13xx but not the lpc17xx.  Will the ones in the 13xx run on my 17xx or are they special versions?

I did get it to work now by changing the file name.  Don't know why. Don't really care right now. Thanks for your help.

I deleted my project and recreated it as you suggested. It was easy but it got the same error. Does it matter that I haven't got my board plugged in yet?

The easiest way to create a project is to use the Quickstart Panel, New Project... Wizard and select LPC1700 C project.

Alternatively, you could import the LPC17xx lpcxpresso examples, and work from there.
