So I've just been playing with my arduino and raspberry pi.

I'm a software engineer by profession, but I just love dabbling with hardware.

I want to go more low level and play with the micro controllers themselves, unfortunately shipping parts is also a but of a hassle.

It seems like this arm board is a good way to start:

But I haven't found many tutorials or anything, there is a nice github library for that dev board. But there isn't a newbie tutorial anywhere out there?

I don't know too much, just basic stuff about controlling led lights and stuff but from an arduino and RPi. How do I get started using an arm chip to control motors and sensors?

Hi Gideon,

take a look at this kit, it's well documented and contains plenty of hardware and software.

I own this kit and I think it's a good value.

The tutorials/documentation seems to be pretty good too. Although I can't say for sure because I'm just using it for a baseboard for the LPC1769 xpresso variant.

I'd also recommend the LPC1769/1768 version because it can do ethernet. You can find a bunch of CMSIS drivers for the 17xx here: NXPDriverLibraries
