Does anyone understand what's going on with the forums? I thought NXP had ported this forum over to lpcware.com yet when you try, I just get an error saying it's redirecting too many times? Are they officially just bringing this one back and leaving it? It would just be nice if they posted something somewhere about the changes instead of just doing them. :|

Myself and a couple of others gave them a gob full about the "new" forum, eventually they apologised and said they would regress back to this one until they fixed the issues.

Truth is there were no real "bugs" in the new one, I think it's the same crap forum LPCware has had all the time. It doesn't have any of the features people expect in a forum these days and when we were dropped in it we didn't like it. I assume the current LPCware guys don't mind, but personally if it had stayed that way it would possibly have driven me from the LPCs. These days, unless you are building a million widgets and need to save every cent, choice of a chip is more than just the hardware it's the entire "eco system" and a big part of that is the forum.

The best example of this is Aduino, crap hardware but still the most popular platform on the planet and largely I would argue because of the active forum.

I doubt I'll be leaving LPC because they have such a great range 217 to 8(?) pins these days and I don't think any other ARMs do that, but there has to be a good forum with knowledgeable members to back it up. That said I've just started a SAM3X8E project so who knows :)

And speaking of knowledgeable members, have we lost Zero? He said goodbye the day or two after the forum switch, coincidence? He was/is probably the most helpful person here.

There is now an apology and explanation on LPCware.com. Hope they get it right (and do some beta testing_ before attempting to move the forum again...

I hope so too. Hoping they at least notify us of the changes as well before they happen. Unfortunately, I had posted a topic while at the lpcware.com forum and can't find it here. I really don't want to repost the same just in case they do end up moving the rest of the topics back over here, but then again, I'm not sure if that'll even happen. :| Does anyone know why lpcware.com is down?

It seems to me that they tried porting this to a site they clearly hadn't tested and as soon as a number of users tried to use it in anger all the bugs surfaced. On another MCU forum I frequent the operators ran a beta test of new forum software for three months or more with about 50 of the regular users and in the end decided to stick with the original (buggy!) forum software as the bugs weren't as bad as what they were trying to move too. In part the change was an attempt to strengthen the security and prevent spam but in the end they just added an atrocious Captcha system to the original forum. Let's hope things work out better here in the end!
