Use mbed as target board?

Hi!

For a little project I wanted to use the LPCXpresso Board for the LPC11U24 (OM13066). After searching through my eval boards I found out, that I "only" have an mbed-LPC11U24 but not the larger LPCXpresso board.

My question is now: Can I use this little mbed board together with the LPCXpresso 7.2.0 IDE?

I'm aware that I could simply copy the compiled executable file to the simulated USB stick. But can I use the LPCXpresso to connect via USB and further JTAG/SWD, i.e. do debugging? Do I need any extra hardware or is it enough to plug in the USB cable?

Thanks

Assuming that you are using LPCXpresso 7, you don't need to do anything in LPCXpresso to recognise a CMSIS-DAP probe. Just connect it to your PC and start debugging and it will be found. If your debug session previously used a different debug probe, you will be shown an empty list of debug probes and you can "Search Again"

Thanks for the hint!

Could you please explain how to setup thie CMSIS-DAP probe in LPCXpresso? I didn't find it on the referenced URLs, nor in any settings dialogs.

Thanks

I haven't actually tried an LPC11U24 mbed board - but on the assumption it provides a CMSIS-DAP debug interface, then yes - you should be able to connect to this from the LPCXpresso IDE. Note that you may need to the latest firmware..

For more information on CMSIS-DAP support in the LPCXpresso IDE, see:

Also note that you will also need the mbed Windows USB serial drivers installed.

Thanks for your answer.

I'm aware that I can use the LPCXpresso Boards as JTAG/SWD "driver" and already did that with several custom LPC11U14 PCB projects.

My question is: does LPCXpresso support the mbed LPC11U24 PCB out of the box and without hardware modifications as a target board for JTAG/SWD access?

Thanks

Yes, we can  :)

To use LPCXpresso (Flashing / Debugging) you need a Link / Link-2 and SWD connection to your board.

I'm not familiar with this mbed board and don't know if  there's a connector to access SWDIO, SWCLK and Reset.

Anyway, it's a LPC11xx and this 3 signals are enough to use SWD / LPCXpresso...

Probably this signals are connected to the MBED chip also, so you should disconnect them there...

Overall I wouldn't recommend to do that. An OM13066  isn't so expensive and you don't risk to ruin your mbed board...
