Hello,

I've been using LPC-LINK with LPC1769. I've been using LPCXpresso version 7.9.2_493 to program the device, but the problem is when I want to debug or to program the flash. The LPC-Link probe v1.3 is recognized but it seems that it can't be able to communicate with the device. I sometimes have the error message "crt_emu_cm3_nxp.exe has stopped working", but always the error message "Command failed with exit code - 1073741819".

The state given at the end is:
Ni: LPCXpresso Debug Driver v7.9 (Aug 11 2015 15:47:24 - crt_emu_cm3_nxp.exe build 262)

My OS is Windows 10 64 bits and my laptop is an Asus X555LJ.

I have also been try with and other board and another version of LPCXpresso (LPCXpresso_8.0.0_526). I also reinstall the software and the drivers, without success.

Thanks a lot for any help.

You must be using a very old (and unsupported) version of the LPCXpresso IDE. Please update to the latest release.

I started getting this error today. It worked perfectly before.
When I try entering debug, it says "No Debug Targets Available"
Then I cancel, Windows->Show view -> Debug -> Debug
I see one terminated session (exit value -1, gdb)
I chose to terminate and remove that session
Then, I disconnect, close and reopen lpcxpresso and reconnect my hardware
Again, I try entering Debug.
It works.
Now, if I halt or it reaches a breakpoint, I see redlinkserver.exe, armgcc etc crashing and debug session terminates.

I use v7.5. I can show this issue to you at NXP Bangalore (B3-C).

You've made a LinkServer connection again. In your Debug Configuration, reset the "Emulator selection" to LPC-Link (HID). Then, navigate to Window -> Preferences -> LPCXpresso -> Debug Emulator Selection. Check the "Show legacy emulators for Cortex-M parts" checkbox at the bottom of the Debug Emulator Selection Preferences, and restart your debug session.

Thanks and regards,

The only emulator available is LPC-Link Probe v1.3 (but not recognized by unchecking "LinkServer" in LPCXpresso preferences).

In the "Connect to emulator: LPC-Link (HID)" dialog, what happens when you use the "Search for any enabled emulator" button?

Hi,

I followed all your instructions you indicate me before. I also try to debug by choosing "LPC-Link (HID)" in the debug configuration, but no emulators were found by uncheck "LinkServer" in LPCXpresso preferences.

As you show me, I looked the LPC-Link options in the preferences and the "Initialise LPC-Link as HID" check box was unchecked. I check it, but anything change.

The only emulator available is LPC-Link Probe v1.3 (but not recognized by unchecking "LinkServer" in LPCXpresso preferences).

Hi Inquinet,

Every debug configuration image you posted shows the Emulator selection is still "LinkServer". Please temporarily disable use of the LinkServer in the Preferences (described above). Next, change the debug configuration Emulator selection to "LPC-Link (HID)" which is the default on Windows. Be certain you've checked the "Initialise LPC-Link as HID" check box. This is the default, but you can verify this setting in Windows -> Preferences -> LPCXpresso -> LPC-Link Options.

Hello,

I recreate my launch configuration an nothing change, always the same problem.

I uncheck the LinkServer option in " Debug Emulator Selection" and when I was trying to debug, no compatible emulator was found. I also tried to program the flash but lpcxpresso didn't find any emulator.

I'm OK to export my project and launch configuration, but how can I do that? Is there an option to export the configurations? Because I don't find it, but I take captures of the debugger configuration.

I agree that you contact me outside the forum, here is my e-mail: lquinet94@gmail.com.

Hi,

I reinstall the new version of LPCXpresso (v8.1.2) and the drivers, too. The problem is always the same, when I try to erase the flash or to debug. I take new captures of the error messages, and I Join it.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards.

Hi lquinet,

There's no question the stub executable is reporting an access violation, then terminating. Regardless of whether you increased the log level asked for earlier, the crash happens early on in the target connect sequence. I can say this because there's no evidence the connection sequence succeeded. Contrast this to the log display when the stub is used standalone via the Flash Dialog.

Next delete, then recreate your launch configurations and attempt to restart the debug session. If the problem persists, you can (for the time being) disable use of the LinkServer. From the tool bar, select Window -> Preferences -> LPCXpresso -> Debug Emulator Selection and uncheck the LinkServer checkbox. This will force the IDE to select the crt_emu_cm3_nxp.exe debug utility in place of the crt_emu_cm_redlink.exe debug utility. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks and regards,
LPCXpresso Support

EDIT: It would be helpful if you could export your projects and launch configuration, and provide them to our technical support. If this is possible, we can contact you outside the forum to make the arrangements.

Hello,

This is a critical point that nxp must solve. I'm teaching ARM stuffs on the LPC1769 LPCXpresso board since a few years now (Iquinet is one of my students this year) and each student has it's own laptop and install the LPCXpresso software.
Over the years, I've noticed that the debugging/programming over LPCLink raise always that kind of problem. But here, it's the first time that we can't solve the program/debug problem (by the way, Iquinet has never succeded to program/debug the board, the problem was there since the beginning).
Now I have two students that can't debug or program their board (of course, we already try to change the boards, remove firewall, etc, ... no way).

If these problems can't be solved, I'm afraid that for the next year, I'll be forced with regret to choose another target and IDE.

Thank you for your quick answer. For the crt_emu_cm3_nxp utility I thought that a USB port was used by another process but I killed all process that weren't essential for windows, and I don't have any problem with them.

I'm going to reinstall LPCXpresso and the drivers tomorrow. I'll keep you informed when it will be done.

Kind regards.

Thank you for the attachments. The short story is the crt_emu_cm3_nxp debug utility is crashing. I can't say why this happens given it has been working earlier. I realize you've replicated the problem with LPCXpresso 8.0, but I'll recommend you uninstall the LPCXpresso installations on your computer, and also the LPC-Link1 and LPC-Link2 device drivers. Then, install the latest release, LPCXpresso 8.1.2, and let us know how you get on.

Hello,

Sorry I thought it was clear. The flash programming or the erasing of the flash doesn't work. I took captures of the error message.

Then I edited my project launch configuration as you asked me. I captured the debug errors, too.

The problem come from the killing of "crt_emu_cm3_nxp.exe" by windows when I want to debug I think, but I don't understand why it kills the program.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Kind regards.

You really haven't included enough information to help you. I presume debug worked normally until it stopped at some point?

Try a simple erase using the LPCXpresso Flash Dialog. Capture the console output from this and include it in your response. If this appears to succeed, can you re-establish a debug connection?

If not, please capture the debug connect sequence in the debug and gdb-traces console logs to see how far the connection proceeds. In your launch configuration, you can include more debug log information by editing your project launch configuration. From the menu, select Run -> Debug Configurations -> C/C++ (NXP Semiconductors) -> <project name> Debug (or Release). Open the Debugger <tab> and change the Debug Level entry from 2 to 4.

Copy/paste the text of the requested console logs into files you can attach to your response.

Thanks and regards,

Hi,

Sorry for the late answer but I was looking for a hub. I have tried another USB port, and an USB hub and I always have the same errors. I have also been tried to boot into ISP mode and the "Vector catch" option in debugger, nothing change. I don't understand why windows kills the program "crt_emu_cm3_nxp.exe" when I want to debug.

I am desesperate, I have been all test, nothing work... And I don't really want to format my computer.

Not yet, I'll try it. But the problem doesn't come from the board or the µC, I installed LPCXpresso on another laptop and it works. The problem come from my laptop but I don't understand why.
