Hi,
I'v problem on my laptop (Compaq nx7400 osXPsp3). On every other computer in my office everything is right. So USB cable and LCPLink are tested and they are working fine.

In the device menager there is "USB Device with DFU Capabilities" - when ever i connect LPClink - driver had been reinstaled several times.

If I try to start debuging in LPCXpresso - error apears: "No emulator or board available. This could be because it is unpowered, unconnected or already in use"
I'm using LPCXpresso v3.4 - also had been reinstaled

I tried to manually run the script : "c:\nxp\lpcxpresso_3.4\bin\Scripts\bootLPCXpresso.cmd winusb"
answer is "Booting LPC-Link with LPCXpressoWIN.enc" and finally there is "PLC-Link Debug Probe v1.1" in device manager

After the LPC-Link had been found in DM the debuging goes a little further and then MSWindows error apears that there is problem with application "crt_emu_lpc11_13_nxp.exe" and it's going to be closed.

If i manually run a script:
"crt_emu_lpc11_13_nxp.exe -wire=winusb -pLPC1114/301 -info-target"
thre is:
"c:\nxp\lpcxpresso_3.4\bin>crt_emu_lpc11_13_nxp.exe -wire=winusb -pLPC1114/301 -info-target
Ni: LPCXpresso Debug Driver v2.0 (Aug  9 2010 18:34:56)"
Nc: Looked for chip XML file in C:/nxp/lpcxpresso_3.4/bin/LPC1114/301.xml
Nc: Looked for vendor directory XML file in C:/nxp/lpcxpresso_3.4/bin/nxp_directory.xml
Nc: Found generic directory XML file in C:/nxp/lpcxpresso_3.4/bin/crt_directory.xml
Nc: Emu(0): Conn&Reset. DpID:  BB11477. Info: T1S6RGRIA
Nc: SWD Frequency: 3000 KHz. RTCK: False. Vector catch: False.
Nc: Packet delay: 0  Poll delay: 0.
Nc: NXP: LPC1114/301  Part ID: 0x0444102B"
And again the same winError apears

I also tried to use via HID but results are similar
Please help ;)

So finally i tried to install fresh Win on new hdd - just to try.
It works w/o any problem, w/o external supplay, in every single port.
This gives a clue that only reason can be some kind of confilict with other driver(s).
The similar problem i found with very-first versions of FTDI drivers.
probably would be the best if You could give LPCLink driver for certyfication in microsoft. They would check for collisions and if the driver instalation is made in proper way - their way ;).

Unfortunately I just have to spend three days to install whole tooling :P
Anyway great thanks for U

of course i did

I'm sorry - but we have to ask !

One additional thought. You mentioned having some form of laptop dock. Have you tried connecting to LPCXpresso both when the laptop is docked, and also when it is undocked? Do you see the same behaviour in both cases?

Certainly googling around, there do sometimes appear to be USB related problems when docks are in use. For example:

http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447626+1283435139757+28353475&...

http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1570386&page=13

I would certainly suggest that it is worth trying to connect to LPCXpresso with your machine undocked and freshly powered up, and with no other USB devices connected.

Also check your drivers. Certainly the first of the above links above makes references to rolling back certain drivers helping in some cases of USB issues.

Regards,
CodeRedSupport.

One final thought - have you tried different USB cables?

Laptop is 3years old, USB 1.1/2.0 fully compilant.
I have 3 usb ports directly in laptop, and two additional in docking station - i'v tried to connect board to each port.
I wory that my WinXP is making all this mess. But I'v no time to make full reinstall of OS.
I gues it has sth to do with drivers.
All of our LPCLink boards are working properly on another laptop, but any Board doesn't like to work with my computer

We are sorry you are having these problems.

Can you confirm that you have tried the same board on another computer and everything is working correctly? That is, you have confirmed that the board works.

Also is this computer old? Does it have USB1.0 or USB2.0 ports, or both? Have you tried connecting to different USB ports?

I'v tried with external supply w/o hub - does'n help.
There was many things running on my laptop's usb port (i.e. ext. hdd, mictoscope, many programming/debugging tools) w/o any problem, so i guess it's not a reason.

And I would like to remind a strange behaviour of "non-booting" via LPCXpresso IDE
Why I must to do it manually ?

First thought - Are you connecting the LPCXpresso board directly to your PC's USB port, or through a hub?

If through a hub, then can you try connecting directly?

If directly, then can you try connecting via a powered hub? Normally we do not recommend connecting through a hub, but we have seen the occassional (older) laptop where the USB port is simply not providing sufficient power.
