Hello!

I'm a newbie regarding MCU development, especially with regards to ARM. I have LPCXpresso 1114 and a base board form Ambedded Artists. I'm just trying to learn how this stuff works, but have come to my first hurdle :).

I imported sample projects (for 1114/302).

Q1) What does /302 or /301 at the end mean? How can I check I have the right samples?

When LPCxpresso is not connected to base board, the blinky project works -- it blinks and I can step through the code. If I connect it to base board, I get the following error:

02: Failed on connect: Ee(07). Bad ACK returned from status - wire error.
Emu(0): Connected. Was: None. DpID:     EDB6. Info: LPCLINK

By "connecting to base board" I mean that I insert it in the 'sockets' which are provided -- and I've soldered the pins to target part of LPCXpresso.

When I connect power, some LEDs compe up on the base board but the LED2 on the LPCXpresso target is only partially on (faint) and it does not blink.

Q2) Should I be setting up the baseboard jumpers somehow? (I'm totally new at this, so please exuse my lack of knowledge)

Kind regards,
Miha.

Thank you both!

When I connected the power to the board as well as to the LPCXpresso, it started working. I've gone over the manual yesterday and noticed:

"There are three USB interfaces in total when the LPCXpresso target board is mounted on the
LPCXpresso Base Board. Technically any of all three can be used to power the system, but the main
power source is however the USB-to-UART bridge. See Figure 3. Section 3.4 describes how to install
necessary drivers for the USB-to-UART bridge."

English is not my main language, but the part 'Technically any of all three can be used to power the system' sounded to me like it would be enough to power through LPCXpresso only -- and since I'm powering through external-powered USB hub, I didn't think power usage would be a problem.

Anyhow, problem solved, thank you!

Kind regards,
Miha.

If you are a newbie, it will be good practice for you to get into the habit of reading the manuals. In the baseboard docs, you will see that the baseboard need to be powered - you cannot power the LPCXpresso AND the baseboard through the LPCXpresso board.

1) /301 and /302 point to different versions of the part
2) did you power both the base board AND the lpcxpresso board?
It is best practise to use a self powered USB-hub to power both the boards since some USB ports (especialy on laptops) don't provide enough power
3)for setting the jumpers on the base board you need to look at the documentation.

Hope this helps
