Every time I launch LPC-xpresso, I get a browser window open:
file:///usr/local/lpcxpresso_4.2.3_255/lpcxpresso/pages/registered.htm

(ubuntu 10.11)

Is there any way to prevent this?

My bad. I was actually looking at Window->Preferences->General ...
(I skipped 'LPCXpresso'). Worked now, thanks.

There is here:

From the Menu bar
Window->Preferences
In the Preferences dialog, in the left column, open the LPCXpresso group and the select General.
On the right-column, you will see the option you are asking about.

In XPRESSO Version: 4.2.0 [Build 264] [24/02/2012]
there is no such item as:  Window->Preferences->LPCXpresso->General 'Show welcome view'

So what then ?

This is a side effect of Eclipse (which LPCXpresso sits on top of) on Linux spawning an external browser for displaying HTML pages (unlike on Windows, where the Welcome page is displayed within Eclipse itself).

However you can easily disable the Welcome screen - using the menu...

Window->Preferences->LPCXpresso->General 'Show welcome view'
