Hi,

FIODIR refers to Fast Input/Output Direction control register and IODIR refers to Input/Output Direction control register. The purpose of FIO is basically application oriented. In case you have a external memory running at high frequencies and you want to communicate with it. Here, FIO's are better than IO's as they are faster.
