The latest revision of the user manual has a new package option for the LPC812:

LPC812M101JTB16 - XSON16

It's just 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm. Awesome!

Any word on availability for the part in this package?  Are samples shipping yet?  Thanks.

If you can solder the XSON, you might as well want to use 0402 resistors/capacitors.
(I just found out that a 15uF 0603 tantalum cap at Farnell is less than 1/3 of the price of a 10uF; same brand and size, so it might pay to buy a capacitor with larger capacitance sometimes).

I guess it could be good for sensor fusion applications in mobile devices.

For a capacitive sensors you'd probably want a device with ADC.

just the size of a SMD-crystal... (And I need to update my user manual)

What can be a typical application for this uC?

Something where weight matters, not size, like a controller in a small 'drone'?
Something that needs very few external components, only? Like an intelligent sensor. Let's say a capacitive one!

My circuits always end up with many components on the board so uC size does not matter so far :((

What do you have in mind?
