Hi!

I want to evaluate the LPC4330 chip and bought a LPC4330-Xplorer and a LPC-Link 2. I also downloaded the latest version of LPCXpresso, but I have a hard time getting this to work on Mac OS. Before I go into details, is this even a supported combination of hardware/software? If not, what should I get instead?

Cheers

Alright, and thanks. I bought a LPCXpresso board and broke off the LPC-Link, and everything is working now. However, I did have to change the MCU to LPC4337 in the supplied examples, which also was a bit tricky to figure out.

So you can use also the embedded LPC-Link on for an example the LPC1769 LPCXpresso Board (http://www.embeddedartists.com/products/lpcxpresso/lpc1769_xpr.php) with LPC4357 boards like the LPC4357-Xplorer that only comes the Keil Ulink JTAG, right?

You're right, it's indeed somewhat confusing. My link wasn't working because of the '.' at the end of the link ,which was somehow added to the hyperlink. Working link is:
http://support.code-red-tech.com/CodeRedWiki/LPCLink2support

More general information regarding debuggers supported by LPCXpresso can be found at:
http://www.code-red-tech.com/RedSuite5/lpcxpresso-5.php

As you might have heard, NXP recently acquired Code Red, the company which developed LPCXpresso (among others). This should enable a smoother launch of new device with full working eco-system in the future, as we now have more control over LPCXPresso.

LPC-Link2 for LPC18 and LPC43 will be supported in a new version of LPCXpresso that will be released very soon.

The correct link is:
http://support.code-red-tech.com/CodeRedWiki/LPCLink2support
(i.e. remove the '.' from the link originall provided)

Alright, thanks! I'll try Keil or IAR, even though I wanted to avoid them due to their lack of Mac OS support.

It is a bit confusing that the latest LPC-Link is not working with NXP software, and it is not super easy to find information about the different combinations of compilers and debuggers (your link isn't working BTW), and what's supported and what's not.

Hi,

Mac OS X is officially supported by LPCXpresso, so that's okay.
But, the current release of LPCXpresso has no LPC-Link2 support for the LPC18xx/43xx yet, see http://support.code-red-tech.com/CodeRedWiki/LPCLink2support.
We are close to releasing a new version of LPCXpresso with LPC18xx/LPC43xx LPC-Link2 support.

If you want to get started before we release this update, you can basically consider two options:
- Use Keil or IAR with the LPC-Link2 by configuring the LPC-Link2 either as ulink or jlink. Both Keil and IAR have free evaluation version to get you started.
- Use a LPC-Link1 together with LPCXpresso. LPC-Link1 is present on the LPCXpresso evaluation boards.

Regards,
Wouter
