Hi.
I've bought a LPC Link2 and tried to program my LPC1788. But LPCXpresso throws some errors.

#1
Error in final launch sequence
Failed to execute MI command:
-target-select extended-remote | crt_emu_cm_redlink -msg-port=1740 -g -mi -2 -pLPC1788 -vendor=NXP -reset= -ProbeHandle=1 -CoreIndex=0 -flash-driver=LPC177x_8x_407x_8x_512.cfx
Error message from debugger back end:
Remote communication error.  Target disconnected.: No error.
Remote communication error.  Target disconnected.: No error.

#2
02: Failed on connect
  02: Failed on connect
  Could not connect to core.
31: No connection to emulator device

I tried it for several hours. I definetly won't recommend LPCxxxx Devices and LPCXpresso. There are unfortunately too many problems. :(

Can anyone tell me a sulution for my problem. I googled the errors but nothing worked.
Thanks

Update:

I found out, that LPCXpresso is supporting J-Link. I have an Jlink EDU and it worked. I made an new project, added CMSIS and the other libraries and did a few integer operations. It worked well. But why does the LPC Link2 not work??

Hello. I still wasn't able to fix the Problem. Does anyone know a solution. When I try to Debug a project, the debugger throws errors and I'm not able to connect to the core anymore.

with all the trouble I had, I won't buy any NXP product in  the future. I bought the board nearly 1 year ago and I'm not able to get it working :(.

I would also strongly recommend that you carefully read the user manual for your board, available directly from the Embedded Artists website.

http://www.embeddedartists.com/products/kits/lpc1788_kit.php

These boards have a large number of jumpers, and if these are not correctly set, then you may experience issues with debugging.

Regards,
LPCXpresso Support

Resetting the board into ISP mode is guaranteed to recover, unless you have used one of the higher CRP modes. Therfore, I suspect that you didn't follow the ISP resetting instructions properly. Either that, or your board is damaged (which is unlikely).

The Board is powered externally, with my Power supply over the 5V jack. Powersupply can drive the Board easily (max current 40A)

I connected the LPC Link 2 to J7 on the Board.

:quest:

Link2-J7 has to be connected to EA-Kit-J7. Red stripe of ribbon cable shows pin1 of EA-Kit-J7.

Whatever you have flashed, switching to ISP should regain access to MCU again because it's using default clock settings (IRC). If you delete MCU with FlashMagic it's also in ISP mode (because it's blank) and SWD should work...

I connected the LPC Link2 to my PC and with that small cable (i don't know the english name for that grey cable with 10 pins. I'm German) I connected the LPC Link 2 to J7 on the Board. I think my flashed program  destroyed the connection, but I included the CMSIS libs. The code for initializing pll etc is also there, so i dont know why my application destroyed the SWD function...

LPC-Link2 and 'LPC1788 Developer’s Kit' is working without problems here.

How did you connect it?

But Flash Magic is really slow. It needs almost 5 minutes to flash the demo...

Is there any way to programm using the LPC Link2?

But how's it even possible that you loose control of the debug function?

There a several options to destroy SWD functions. Wrong clock setup, pin settings....

Quote: grillkopf
That didn't work.

If SWD isn't working after switching to ISP you have to use FlashMagic and UART Bootloader as described in 'LPC1788 Developer’s Kit User’s Guide'...

Sorry.
But how's it even possible that you loose control of the debug function?

Quote:
So just switch to ISP: Push SW6 (ISP button) and reset the board via SW1 (Reset button).

Then try to flash/debug it again...

That didn't work.

See: http://www.lpcware.com/content/faq/lpcxpresso/regaining-debug-access

UM:
4.12 SP8: Digital IO
There is a push-button (SW6) that is connected to a signal that enable the ISP-mode after reset on the
OEM Board. For the LPC1788 this is pin P2.10.

So just switch to ISP: Push SW6 (ISP button) and reset the board via SW1 (Reset button).

Then try to flash/debug it again...

BTW: Are you sure you flashed a valid image?

Is it a custom board? Sounds like you have not wired up the debug connector correctly, or you are not supplying power to your chip. The clue is in th error message. Cannot connect to core - it means what it says.
