I worked on ACIM control using HVP-MC3PH development kit using MCRSP_ACIM_V1.2.0 ACIM reference solution package.

I want to check the regeneration of induction motor.I tried a lot in different way. But no regeneration happen.

Is it possible in this platform?

Hi,

From the block diagram, you can see that there is a DCB brake module, which can discharge the regeneration energy to a power resistor and becomes heat.

But I suppose it can not power the main AC power with the regeneration energy, in other words, this is a motor solution instead of a generator.

I put the bulb in DCB brake terminal. But there is no glow happen.
I supply the power board with Battery pack and run the motor(motor connect with flywheel) at high RPM then suddenly reduce the RPM.
As per induction motor principle, the motor run above the synchronous speed the regeneration occurs.
But there is no voltage rise in the DC bus.
Is there any control mechanism handled in program for blocking the regeneration?

Hi,

I copy the circuit from the schematics of HVP, when the Brake_gate logic is high, the Q4 MOSFET will turn on, you can replace D21 diode with a bulb, the bulb will light.

The chip tests the voltage of DCB_brake_voltage_sense signal, when it exceeds a threshold, the Brake_gate will be high with firmware

Is it necessary to replace the diode?
I have connected the bulb across the diode(between brake_res_2 and brake_res_1). But not glow.

Note: I have already check this circuit by changing the threshold voltage value(below DC bus voltage) in firmware without connecting motor. The bulb will glow. But checking for regeneration the Q4 is not turn on.

Hi,

I do not think you need to remove the diode. You just need to connect the bulb in parallel with the diode, it is okay.

When the voltage of DCB_brake_voltage_sense node exceeds a threshold, the Brake_gate GPIO pin is set to high by software, the Q4 will turn on, the bulb will light.

Hope it can help you
