Hi

The bigger K60s also have NAND controller, therefore the K61 adds mainly a DRAM controller to it.

I have attached the comparison from the K61 user's manual which probably sums it up - the K61 also has some additional security features too.

Regards

Mark

Hi

The K61 are bigger chips - available only in MAPBGA. The main difference is that they have more ports and additional external memory interfaces like DDR and NAND Flash.

K51 has additional segment LCD controller.

K52 has additional FlexBus but no SLCD

K53 has both additional FlexBus and SLCD

Thanks! Mark

Clear about K50~K53.

But I am still puzzled with K60 and K61. I contrasted both series by the Product Brief documents.
Please check attached picture. You can find the words in red pane of differenct table discribe the same parameters.
How can I distinguish them?

Sorry to trouble again. Hoping your reply!

I'd like to add that the 100Mhz parts are the "original" release of Kinetis. At the time it was a bit confusing, as the launch activity talked about all the security features and the Nand flash controller and DRAM controller etc, but it took a while to decipher that not everything was on these 100Mhz parts, and that Freescale was really talking about the entire family.

So the 120/150Mhz parts came along and gave us the K70 (with awesome LCD controller) and K60 in 120/150Mhz with variants that include these security and memory and other misc features. There should also be a K20 coming(or already here?)

Simliarly the 50Mhz family and 72Mhz familes have slightly different feature sets.

All these parts are quite compatible and once you've got the key peripherals you need in your design, in my opinion are made available just to satisfy specific price targets for specific feature sets...

Good suggestions!

But I think it is a bit inconvenient to choose the right one for users since there are so many parts.....

Hi

Having such a big choise can indeen be confusing.

But in the other hand - if the choice were not so wide there would certainly be complaints about that too :smileywink:

Hi

One needs to be a bit careful with the 50MHz parts since they have less interrupst and different interrupt vector IDs (not compatible with others in the same family).
