What's nice is that the freedom boards are so inexpensive!  Under $13 for the lower-powered Kinetis processors.  I'm not sure which, if any of the Segger firmwares will give you debugging capability in KDS, though (SEGGER - The Embedded Experts - OpenSDA / OpenSDA V2
