SWD_DIO pin alternate uses

I'm currently using the SWD_DIO pin on my processor for programming. Once programmed, can the pin be changed to another function? I would like to also use the pin for an I2C port, which is an alternate function per the data sheet.

I believe the answer is yes, but wanted to be sure. Thank you.

Of course you lose debug capability in the process....
