Replacement for MKL27Z Out of stock

Hi Community.

I was about to buy more MKL27Z32VLH4, but it ran out of stock in everywhere. I need a replacement for this MCU in which i can port easily my previous code. I research that K32L2B series is a good choice, but i want to hear some recommendations.

Thank you a lot.

Hi

As long as you have a crystal on the board and don't need crystal-less USB device operation you can use either the MKL25Z32VL or MKL26Z32VL as direct replacements. These older chips are still available in about 5k quantities but you would need to purchase them asap since the stock often disappears overnight and then there are long delivery times again.

Otherwise the K32L2B is very similar to the kL27. uTasker project users can move projects from KL27 to K32L2B with a single project define.

In any case, buy chips so you know you have them and only then start porting work otherwise you may need to repeat the exercise more than once.

Regards

Hi,

Most of the chips are out of stock. Our recommendation won't be very helpful due to the lack of chips.  If you sill want to get the recommendation , please list your needs.

Have a great day,
TIC

Hi.

I Need a MCU that features UART module, I2C and Kinetis bootloader for direct USB programming via Kinetis flash tools or BLHost.

Thank you.

Hi

Yes, thank god for those old KL25s and K26s still lying around gathering dust at the distributors.

I have already used them to 'save' 4 x KL27 based products from distinction by buying KL25 stock to ensure 2 years of production (foot print compatible). The only down-side is that they need a crystal (don't have 48MHz RC) but I always have this (unmounted) in designs anyway; plus there is no ROM LOADER for USB programming in the factory but I always have SWD on the bed of nails so this is also not a big deal. Since the uTasker serial loader is used for in-field updates the ROM loader is not required after initial production anyway. Some may have less RAM - so be careful there too.

Switching the project define from KINETS_KL27 to KINETIS_KL25 or KINETIS_KL26 is all that I need (assuming no special KL27 peripheral is actually used, in which case one is up the creek without a paddle anyway...).

Regards

Mark

P.S. I actually managed to find some K64s -  at $27.- each a real bargain too!
