Hi Eric,
We have a three hundred or so on order through Digikey but the bulk of them (a couple thousand of different flavors) ordered through Mouser. Delivery times sat at TBD for a couple of months which really freaked us out but last week we finally got some dates again. I'm not entirely sure they are realistic -- I have trust issues these days given the bogus dates NXP supplied Mouser previously (per my previous comment).
We've considered going with Future but their MOQ was too high since we use a wide mix of the Kinetis families. We've ordered from Arrow in the past but they never really carried stock. That's what we like about Mouser/Digikey. Parts available almost immediately (until the chip shortage).
I know that making the chips is a lengthy process but holy smokes. Saying parts will be delivered a year from now when they've already been on the books for two years is crazy...
Agreed on the "Longevity" answer we get from NXP. Price and performance-wise, there are much better alternatives out there these days but as a small business it takes time to redesign the software and hardware - we run lean and mean. All of our future products on the books have NXP designed out (not just micros -- everything!).
We had a pretty good stockpile of micros so we haven't had to hit up the broker market. One part we use that sells for $2.30 was going for $500... And we needed three of them. Yikes... Can't afford that!
Best of luck!
