FRDM-KL03Z serial problem

Just started with a FRDM-KL03Z development board and have a very basic problem. I'm using TeraTerm, all serial port params are correct, but all I get on the terminal screen is endless "alpha" characters, not the "x=; y=" display shown in the on-line introduction to the FRDM board. The LED tilt program appears to be working correctly. Any suggestions?

Please download the SDK_2.2_FRDM-KL03Z and then test the bubble example.
