On a clean install of Linux 6.18.37_2.1.0 i.MX Linux image, the Smart Device Gateway first-boot setup (`install.sh`) fails to prepare its Python virtual environment, and the application does not start.
The underlying cause is that `pip`/`uv` try to build `pycairo` and `pygobject` from source on the target, but the lean release image ships only the runtime cairo / GLib / GObject-Introspection libraries — not the matching `-dev` files (pkg-config `.pc`, headers, `.so` symlinks). The source build therefore fails.
# 1. Copy the archive to the board (scp, USB, etc.), e.g. to /root # scp missingfiles.tar.gz root@<board-ip>:/root/ # 2. Extract over the root filesystem (preserves the tree AND symlinks: usr/lib, usr/include, ...) cd / tar xzvf /root/missingfiles.tar.gz # 3. Refresh the linker cache (optional but recommended) ldconfig 2>/dev/null || true
# 4. Remove venv folder from /usr/share/smart-device-gateway/ before launching again the /usr/share/smart-device-gateway/install.sh
cd /usr/share/smart-device-gateway/
rm -rf venv
./install.sh
