Dear all,

i have a quite cheap BDM programmer, that i used successfully for some time with mcf5307.

It seems not working properly with mcf54416 actually (mcf54416 seems not supported).

As far as you know, what is cheapest programmer available for mcf54416 ?

USBMLCF: USB ColdFire Multlink : seems not supprting mcf54416

Looks like only U-Multilink model supports mcf54416.

Am i right ?

Thanks

angelo

Thanks,

do you know if there is any alternative to P&E that can be explored for a coldfire programmer ?

I am sorry we only recommend the P&E debugger for ColdFire parts. Although I know that there has other tools for this purpose, but we are sorry that we do not have much information regarding this.

Hi Fang,

thanks,

as far as you know, is BDM protocol the same for all coldfire models ? Or something changes between coldfire models ? Could a programmer that supports other older V4 cores supports also, even if not declared, a more recent mcf54416 ? What i mean is, the models that a BDM programmer supports depends on the programmer hardware or from the software that controls it ? In the second case, is it just a matter of detect the correct model, and the BDM communication protocol is then the same ?

thanks,

angelo

Hi,

The BDM protocol itself is not changed, but the hardware driver is changed. Maybe I think the P&E has more detail information for you if you can put a question there. :smileyhappy:

Best Regards,

Fang

Hi,

We recommend to use P&E USB Multilink Universal:

P&E Microcomputer Systems: Over 30 years as an Industry leader in Embedded Systems Development Tools...

You mentioned USBMLCF interface is being discontinued and replaced by the P&E USB Multilink Universal interface as above.
