Figure 4 (page 17) of MCF52259 data sheet shows A11 --> FEC_TXD3, B10 --> FEC_TXD2, C9 --> FEC_TXD1, D9 --> FEC_TXD0.

But  Table 3 (page18) shows FEC_TXD[0:3] --> A11, B10, C9, D9. This is rotated!

Which one is correct?

Hi Michael

Unfortunately neither the M52259DEMO nor the M52259EVB uses the 144 MAPBGA so this can not be verified in these diagrams.

It is known that there are often some inconsistencies in the table of pin function, especially in first versions of data sheets and user's manuals. Therefore this table should not be used for circuit design. I would however expect the pin out diagram in the data sheets to be exact.

Of course a cross-check between pin-out table, pin out diagram and a reference circuit is the best way to be sure that a new design is accurate, but this is not possible in the case of the 144 MAPBGA (due to lack of reference circuit) and of course because of known inconsitencies as you have pointed out. I would guess you would have a 99% change of success with the pin out diagram. To get this up to 100%, the best way would be to contact your Freesacle representative and get confirmation that the pin out diagram is absolutely correct. Since very few people would have designed and tested new board with 144 MAPBGA at this point in time it will be difficult to get absolute confidence via the forum unless someone from Freescale with the right contacts can answer directly.

Regards

Mark

The pinout diagram is correct.  The table entry order is backwards.
