what codewarrior suite should I purchase?

Hi,

I am trying to buy a codewarrior suite so that I can get rid of the license issues that always appear in my projects. I was wondeirng if someone can help me and give me the main difference between the two suites (basic and professional). I don't think I need the professional suite but I am not really sure.

If you are running Linux on your board then the basic does the job.

If you want to write embedded code without an OS you need the professional version of CodeWarrior MobileGT.

Both can be hosted on either windows or linux.

Hey Martin, thank you for you quick reply. I am using the mpc5121e processor on the ADS5121 board, so you think that the basic suite is enough?

Are you using linux on the target?  If so then I believe the basic will be ok, although I've never used it.

If you are not using linux on the target then you need the Pro version.  That's what we use on the MPC5121 as we write code which does not have an OS.

Best thing is to download a demo of the basic suite which will run for a period of time (30 days i think) and try it to make sure it does everything you want.

Hello

A CodeWarrior Basic edition will only allow you to program flash and run hardware diagnostic tools.

You will not be able to build or debug any bare board application.

If you are planning to do develop and debug Linux applications (i.e. develop application on top of a Linux kernel running o the HW board) the basic edition is enough as well.

But keep in mind that you will not be able to do any Linux kernel debugging.
