I currently have a license for the HC12 IDE (64K upgrade). It was purchased about a two years ago. I'd like to move the license to a dongle so I can use a laptop when I am in the field in case I need to upgrade the software. Has anyone had experience going through this process? Is there any issues?

Thanks

Hello

Just a side note.
Make sure you are using a CodeWarrior for HC12 V3.0 or higher .
Older release of the software did not support dongle licenses.

To retrieve the actual version number:
  To retrieve that info:
    - Start CodeWarrior
    - Select Help -> About Freescale CodeWarrior
    - Click on "Install Products"
    - CodeWarrior version used is displayed on top in the Installed Products dialog.

If version specified there is 3.0 or higher you are in good shape.
If version is smaller you will not be able to sue dongle license.
If you do not have a button "Installed products",m that means you have a very old version of the software and you will not be able to use dongle license.

Hello,

You just need to visit the following link and order from here CWH-DONGLE for the price of $98.99
http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=CWHCDONGLE

After that you need to ask for rehost licence at [email protected]
Attached is a license tranfer document. Fill it out and attach this to the email.

Additional info: you don't have to register for a second time (because your registration number was already registered)

Best Regards
Lukas

From my experience, as soon as you want to change anything with your license they will take all your money and some more for it. At least that was what Metrowerks did. Last time I needed to change mine, I bought a new license instead of changing the old one, because it would cost pretty much the same.

The dongle itself should be rather cheap though, if I remember correctly.
