Importing a CW2.5 project ?

Is it possible to import a CW 2.5 project into CW10.6.4 ? This is for a MCF5272.  When I try to open the .mcp

file it says the tool chain is not supported. But I can create new MCF5272 projects (and build them) so I have the tools.

Thanks

Hello Jim,

As explained Fiona the imported is working for DSC projects only.

You're using a CodeWarrior development tool for Coldfire devices.

If the version used is really V2.5, it's a very very old version probably named CW for E68K V2.5.

This version was released in 2001.

Jump to MCU V10.6.4 could be not very easy. May be the jump is too important.

The Doc "http://cache.freescale.com/files/soft_dev_tools/doc/app_note/AN4727.pdf " was based on the last Classic version.

For Coldfire it was CW for ColdFire V7.2 released end of 2009.

Jumping from V2.5 to V7.2 could be not easy as there are lot of changes: EWL, etc ...

You can refer to the 2 TNs attached.

I don't know if there is a best way to convert an old project to last Eclipse version.

May be the you can follow the process provided in the AN.

Else if it's not working, another solution could be to split the operation:

    - move from V2.5 to V7.2,

    - move V7.2 to MCU V10.6.

Have a great day,
Pascal

The Project Importer in v10.6 only supports DSC products.

For other products, the solution is to create a new bareboard project in CW10.6.4, and then add/copy all your source files to the new project. This is the cleanest way to import a project. Below is an application note for how to do this:
