Greetings,
I just wanted to confirm some information I've got about the different versions of CodeWarior.
I am successfully using CW v6.2 and 6.3 with the HCS08 family but I need to develop an application for a ColdFire v2 platform (MCF52xx family).
I've heard that I need the CW v.7 or above for that. But I also heard from a fellow developer that when he installed the new CW version, it messed his older version and so he could not continue developing for the HCS08 family.
I was later told that the CW v.10.0 should solve all this conflicts, being compatible with both CFv2 and HCS08, even though it is still in the beta version.
My question is: Is all the information I have correct or it it all hear-say? Is there a real conflict with the different versions of CW?
BTW: I am hoping to develop using the free version of the software so please let me know if there are differences in that aspect as well.
Thank you all
Hi,
just a correction:
CW for MCU10.0 (Eclipse based) supports all - HCS08, CFv1, CFv2+
I'm not aware of any conflict when using several CodeWarriors on one PC.
E.g. I use more then 30 different version of CodeWarrior (HC08, HC12, DSCs, CFv1, CFv2, MPC55xx,....) on my notebook (32 bit Win XP) without any problems.

I have used multiple "versions (i.e. for different targets)" of codewarrior on the same machine without significant conflict.
There is one small issue which can cause problems:
When one version is installed then clicking on a project file (.mcp) will open with that version (obviously!).
If multiple are installed then it will open with the latest installed version. If this is not the correct version it may then offer to "upgrade" your project - If you answer yes it can upgrade it into oblivion.
bye
Thank you all for your answers!
1) Installing CodeWarrior for ColdFire should not have messed with the CodeWarrior for MCUs license unless he installed the ColdFire version into the same directory where CodeWarrior for MCUs version resides. By default, each CodeWarrior version installs into a separate directory in order to prevent the license file from being over-written (among other things).
2) CodeWarrior for MCUs 10.x only supports ColdFire V1. For ColdFire V2-V4 development, you need to use CodeWarrior for ColdFire 7.x.
3) For limitations on the Special Editions of CodeWarrior, check out the information on the Freescale Special Edition page.
