Hi Guys,
Just a list of bugs I can think of (while I sit and wait the 2minutes 45seconds for the OSBDM to download 'hello world'):
- Unchecking the option to only download the program on the first time after build doesn't work on the MQX demo's
- Most of the time I don't get the tick box's that allow you to 'uncheck' which source files are included, or, which build you want for that project
- most of the time the ttf files are corrupted when I import a project and I have to make a new one, or import another one, it it replaces the start of the ttf file with 'copyofcopyofcopy' etc
- When you control click a function to go to look at the function, some projects it will only go to the header definition instead of to the function itself
- The debugger some days just doesn't work unless you close CW10.2 and reopen it (its like the driver locks up and it just wont let you do anything, even resetting the debugger, removing it... But even then sometimes it needs a reboot
- it takes 'minutes' to download instead of seconds, even with my cyclone MAX with Ethernet, but crazy enough I can 'write image' it cycle in a few seconds, and burning direct from the cyclone is 2 seconds, yet from the IDE, its minimum 30 seconds...
- Randomly has errors with no description or reason, you just clean and build and they go away magically
- Most of the MQX stuff does not work out of the box, you have to change the paths, and often have to add paths to get it to compile
- I still don't always get the console output when downloading and debugging, mostly works, but randomly does not
- I run this on both Win 7 32Bit and 2 different 32Bit XP machines and can easily reproduce all these faults... I am thinking of making a video of this and uploading it to youtube or something.. I know I am not the only one experiencing these issues, and I had hoped that 10.2 would have fixed all these obvious issues.
My 2minutes 45 is up...
Importing the MQX3.7 bsp, paths are correct, files can be opened, but right click to open in windows explorer says this option is not available or something... Resart 10.2 and it works... happens every few days...
Dragging files into folder in MQX bsp, comes up with dialog "copy problems: Problems occurred copying th selected resources"... Only virtual folders and links can be created under virtual folder...
So it use to, or sometimes does, come up with teh dialog saying 'do you want to create virtual links to these files'...
I keep getting errors popping up saying
"Error importing task" x 2 when I open the target tasks.. all I can do is click ok, and it makes no difference, everything still works... Only seems to do this once every time I load CW10.2
I have just started logging faults as they happen... Its constantly like this, so I will share it with the world while I wait for the crazy amounts of time for this debugger to download, or the PSP's to compile on my quad core Xeon servers with 12Gb DDR3.
for some reason, I just had a heap of virtual folders 'greyed out', but there is no check box to 'include them', so I have a heap of files that I just cant use, but it still compiles, so it must be using them... I moved on as this is not required for this project right now, ill come back to this problem another day.
All MQX paths are not followed by the indexer making it hard to follow links, my indexer is turned right up.
Often the concole screen shows nothing for 10 seconds or more, then finally it will say
"**** Build of configuration MC5P_IMAGE1 for project MC5P_370_16_070_TEST ****"
I just hit clean, and build, and it came up with undefined something... then I hit clean and build, and it worked...
When I got to launch, it will sit there for 10 to 15 seconds doing not much , then it will finally switch to debug view, then another 10 seconds it will finally say
"Executing download task: Z:\Suretek\Software\MultiCommCurrent\MC5P_370_16_072\CopyOfMC5P_370_16_061_mcf52259_Int_Flash.tcl"
PS There is that "copyOf" that gets appended when it fails to import task...
It gets to the end of the download and says
"Error downloading task, do you want to continue" I say yes, and EVERYTHING works fine, It gives no reason for the failure, no indication of why it failed... but I can debug and step all the code with no problems...
>30% of the time my Cyclone max wont download and debug (via ethernet), the only way to get it to work is to close and open CW10.2.. Might try using USB for a day and see how good it isnt.
First run my after opening CW102 I get "Error importing task" twice but everything works
Every time I download and program I get "Download Task Failure\n Error: Couldnt stop the target. Cant stop the target\n Do you want to continue? <OK> <Cancel>" I press ok, everything works just fine... Awesome...
Its taking around 2 minutes to compile and download my application for debugging... Feels like 1995....
Would love someone from freescale to RDP or Webex my machine and watch the awesomeness that is CW10.2.
Another 10 hour block of development with most of my time spent waiting.... and waiting...
Closing and opening CW10.2 a few times to see if I can get the debugger working... reset computer, restart cyclone, use multilink, restart, rinse and repeat until some magic combination works.
No console output again so I cant really see what its doing during download... I hit debug, wait 20 seconds, then it flicks to debug mode, then it puts up "Error importing task" and apparently waitings another 20 seconds then starts "Executing download task"...
At least its working... I guess...
Ohhhh, Console is working again ...
Woo, wait,
"Download task failure
Error:
Do you want to continue?
OK Cancel"
Let me see, I choose OK..
And everythings working again..
So, apparently stopping the debug session, disconnecting the cyclone max, then reconnecting (Ethernet and USB) and going to debug again has a very high chance of 'locking up' something in CW10.2 which means you have to restart CW10.2 to debug again... I tried 'everything' and that is all that works to get it working again.
Any why is USB and Ethernet so slow I use to program OTP's back in the 90's quicker than this.
'Launching 'XXXXXX' has encountered a problem. Would you like to export diagnostic information and send it to freescale?
Failed to resume target process., Can only debug on program at a time.
Details >> Export Diagnostics >> Cancel'
Details = "Failed to resume target process., Can only debug one program at a time."
This is what I get soooo often... I want to break something... This wastest a good half hour of my day every day, thats a lot.
The ONLY solution I can find is to restart CW10.2
In two days I have had CW10.2 completely fail to open (probably 30 restarts due to above reasons). I end up having to 'end process' and sometimes restart my machine.
I have all the same problems in all three locations I develop (two machines, three windows builds, Win 7 32, XP 32 bit x 2, both machines are very quick and over spec'd by a long way (min 8G DDR3, i2600 and a new Xeon).
When I hold down ALT+Left or Right, it randomly goes to the wrong location or just doesnt remeber where i was... its like this memory gets flushed or destroyed or possibly overwritten at some point.
Sometimes when I Ctrl + click a function it goes to the header instead of the function, this seems related to the problems with headers being indexed only a few deep or just not indexing (even though I have pushed the limits rigth up.
Ive now lost the console output during compile... reboot, and its back...
Not sure why, but today its taking 'forever' to compile, like 30 seconds... Its a massive project, but, its still crazy long periods of time to wait...
If I 'debug' my project using either the multilink or cyclone max (Eth or USB), stop it as it starts at "mqx main", then disconnect the debugger after the stop (I shouldnt even have to disconnect but the debugger randomly stuffs up so I have no choice), then after I make code changes, compile, reconnect the debugger, hit debug, it crash's every time and requires me to restart CW10.2 to get it to work. So now I just restart after every download, wait for the indexer and "RSE"...
Would love to get one of your guru's to RDP or webex my computer and see how terrible this thing is in action on a 'big' project. Sure the little 'hello world' stuff works great, but try on something serious and its all drama.
If you compile your project and a flash section overflows (to much code for the space allowed), it fails, but when you fix it and re compile it still has the error 'Link Failed' until you manually delete it.
"Child Count update" happened when I ended a debug session, not sure why

An internal error occurred during: "child count update".

OK, I understand you have problems with the tools. Please file an on-line service request to get the problem looked at.
