basic info. on 9s08qe8badge low power evaluation platform

Just bought a 9s08qe8badge low power evaluation platform for $5.  Not sure what it is exactly.  I am a hobbiest in elctronics and computer programming and all the info I find in this forum and on the web is a bit over my head so... can anyone give me a dumbed down explanation of what this thing is???   As an amature will ever find a use for it?

Most of the Badge boards available now are based on the ColdFire processor, instead of the MS9S08QE8 part that you've got there. However, after some serious searching, I managed to track down the user manual. This should provide the information that you need,
