For the BDM interface section, I would highly recommend a link to the recommended wiring PDF from Freescale.

That said, Freescale will need to update their connection recommendations in light of recent debugging I've been doing with local and factory FAEs.

See this forum for more info.

Nice document, thanks!

I notice that you include the VDD pin on the BDM connector. I've read in the part datasheet that this is not required, inteded for powering your BDM pod from target power. This isn't necessary for the BDM interface to work if the pod is self-powered right?

Hi Rob,

The power on the BDM header usually powers the level converted, target side, BDM connection circuitry of the adapter. Even though the bulk of the adapter is powered by the USB or whatever.

Dumb question - what programmer are you using? I've got a PE Micro Cyclone Pro which has a BDM option. I've also got a DEMO9S08 with the optional BDM header, neither of which work for me.

Should I be using the BDM Multilink? I've got an open SR with PE and they promised to send me newer software with better QG8 support. We'll see.

Hi Rob,

I have been following your troubles both here and at P&E but I haven't been able to assist because I have got a P&E USB Multilink and the **bleep** thing just works so I haven't learned a lot about it.

I have also been looking into making the open source BDM so I know the circuit there. The P&E handles different target voltages and has a LED that only comes on when target power is present so I presume it is similar.

Peg, are you using the PKGHCS08-USB with an HC9S08QGx part? We're using the QFN-16 version of a QG8 and a Cylcone.

Just want to be sure what combination of equipment you're using.

Rob,

I have only used my USB-ML-12 to talk to GB/GT devices. I will be talking to QG's if Freescale ever get around to sending me some.

P.S. Don't ever try to discuss sock repair here or you will get bleeped!!!
