How to implement security in MAC codebase?

Hi. May I know is there any built in security in the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol? How about in the MAC codebase in the codewarrior?

the MyWirelessApp example 8 (a and b) shows an example implementation of security.

the MyWirelessApp User's guide also contains a chapter about security.
