I have a DEMO908GZ60 and a problem programming it. The following is a part of the errata document for the board.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For proper operation of the MC68HC908GZ60 demo board, please install the following software items in the order presented below:

• CodeWarrior Development Studio for HC(S)08 v3.1
• CodeWarrior Development Studio, HC908GZ60 Patch

The HC908GZ60 patch corrects a CodeWarrior serial port interface issue. If the patch has not been installed correctly, you will not be able to program the MCU Flash via the serial port interface.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cannot find this patch in the CD's (or elsewere), only upgrades for various derivatives of the 908 family. Can anyone help?

Hi

You can go to the Freescale web page to download the CodeWarrior (for HC08) v3.1 or v5.0
http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/overview.jsp?nodeId=01272694011860

Otherwise, you can search on Google to download CodeWarrior v5.0 for HC08. If it does not support for HC08, you can download HC08 patch at freescale webpage.

Cheers

I think you can get patches by running the "CodeWarrior Updater" in the same program group as the CodeWarrior IDE.

Hi,

Others have been recently complaining that V3.1 and its patches/updates etc are no longer present on the web.

Regards David

You would think that the version 5 would have corrected the problem.  Have you tried it?

No, I am assuming V5 is built on the latest and greatest V3.1.

Standing aside now for informed comment.

I don't if this is an "informed comment" or an embarrassed comment...

I have asked members of my team, the CodeWarrior team, and even the board manufacturer and no one can find the referenced patch or even why one was required.

A recent service request on a different issue required testing of CW 3.1, 5.0, and 5.1 with the DEMO908GZ60 board and found that it worked with all of these versions. They did report an issue that you will run into on all these versions and connecting with the board. The solution was:

"...one extra power cycle is requested and this should not be the case when connected serially from the pc to the board. In this case, you should press Reset on the board and click ignore security instead of power cycling again as it requests."

I'm getting a board in here in the next couple of days, so I'll look at this then.

Hi all,
I already have ordered a second board for my project, and I'll check if I missed something.
I also have received a DEMO9S08QG8 with CodeWarrior V5 and I'll try it, if things won't work with V3.1
Dear Rocky, since you 'll be getting a board, I'm sure you will find in it's box the DEMO908GZ60ERRATA.doc, as I did.
You can also find it here: http://www.freescale.com/files/microcontrollers/doc/errata/DEMO908GZ60ERRATA.doc
Maybe I should have given you a better description of the problem. To the moment I remember a message like " cannot find host. Error 14".
But I'll be back on that.

Finally the problem is with my laptop. There are no COM ports on it, so I added a PCIMCIA card with 2 of them. When i start the programmer I receive the message "Ethernet functionality not enabled Socket error #10065 No route to host", and the connection attempt ends with an "error 14 during script". So the problem must be with the card and how to configure it within Windows. To the moment I cannot find a solution for this.
When i tried on another computer, and having in mind the issue Rocky mentioned, things ended sucessfully.
So no money to upgrade, I'll buy another computer :smileywink: (and someone please, remove that errata doc).

mardalianis -

I'm glad you fixed your issue.

Just FYI, I did get my board in. It did not come with the errata sheet packed in the box. (It could be that they are shipping CW 5.1 with it and it doesn't apply.) I did test the board with both CW3.1 and 5.1 and it worked with both. I did not have to do anything special as was suggested by the info from the service request that I posted earlier.
