Can't get trace component to work

I'm using the Real Time Debugger with a P&E Micro Cyclone Pro and an HC12 target.  When I try to open Trace through Component->Open...->Trace, I get the message, "Current Connection does not support Trace".   Does this mean the P&E doesn't support Trace?  If not, how do I enable Trace?

You posted two times to the wrong forums. HC12 is 16-bit MCU. Please do not cross post.

Trace component message is misleading. It is not connection, that is not supported, but device. Try choosing different derivative and see if selecting and see if you still get the same message. For example S12D family is not supported by Trace component, but S12C is supported.
