Best Way to Create Power Up Pulse Generator to Wake Up MCU

I was wondering what some of the common ways is to create a power up pulse to wake up a MCU in stop mode? Most of the voltage supervisor and monitors assert a reset anytime the VCC/monitor voltage of the supervisor falls. This has the effect of waking the MCU up but not letting the program run which increases the current draw from a battery backup.

Thanks,
Lucas

It sounds to me like you're looking for some external very low power hardware to generate a wake-up signal. A while back I used a DS2417 timekeeper chip for this. It draws almost zero power and as an added benefit gives you an accurate time base. You get a wakeup signal every second, crystal controlled.

Hello Lucas,

Have a look at the operation of the KBI module in the datasheet for the MCU type you are using.  See if this will meet your requirements.

Mac
