Large inrush current at boot time on iMX6 SDB

I have a question about the MCIMX6Q-SDB freescale dev kit board perhaps one of you can help me with.

I have noticed on boot and reset an average 3A current surge about 3 seconds into the boot process. This is on the auxiliary 5V supply and the duration of the peak is roughly 400uS.   I assume this has been encountered before. Do we know what causes this? Is it a peripheral or the processor itself?

Todd,

Please find below explantion:

"On the SD boards with the battery charger chips, current response through the battery charger ICs is not as responsive, so that larger in-rush currents will cause large voltage dips in the VIN supply to the PF0100 PMIC."
