RT1160 Dual Image support

Hi for the application we're developing using the MIMXRT1166 we're looking at whether the internal boot ROM is enough to handle our program updates in the field. The Dual image support sounds very useful but there isn't much information apart from 10.13.3 Enter Bootloader API in the Reference Manual

but it isn't mentioned again.

Are there further app notes or SDK examples where this is elaborated on?

I found some more information in the IMXRT1170RM 

Does this also apply to the RT1160 parts?

Hi @iann 

Yes, dual image support should also apply for RT1160.

Currently, we have this document Pi Ziheng Embedded: Revealing the alternate boot design of serial NOR Flash dual programs on i.MXRT1... . This article was written  by a chinese colleague, in chinese, please translate it to english.

It is so unbelievably ridiculous that proper documentation in English can't be provided for these devices.  You guys (NXP) really need to get your act together.

I understand the frustration, at this time, and currently,  the Chinese article was the only documentation available for this topic. We are currently working on delivering further documentation on this topic. We require to align with bootROM development team to create official documentation, as for other documents and this migth require more time, than the expected. 

If you need any assistance with this topic, feel free to let me know. I have a draft article about setting RT1170 and dual image testing with the Secure Provisioning Tool. I can share the steps  you, and if you have any additional feedback that could be helpful.

4 months for better documentation on a topic that appears to be driving a number of people in this forum crazy?  I'll take any information I can get, though, it's not likely to be any worse than what's out there already.  I'll start a new thread "RT1170 dual image support wi/ROM API's explained for real" and let's see where it goes.
